About PítCast PRO’s 7‑point political bias indicator
PítCast PRO displays a small colored marker next to some sources indicating their estimated editorial political orientation. The indicator is an ordinal, seven-point scale: Far left, Left, Center left, Center, Center right, Right, Far right. It is provided strictly for context and must not be interpreted as a value judgment, endorsement, or quality score.
Operational definition. “Political bias” here refers to a consistent, directionally skewed pattern in editorial stance and topic framing relative to a neutral baseline, aggregated at the outlet level (not the individual article level).
How we estimate bias. When available, classifications synthesize multiple signals, including (i) the outlet’s stated editorial mission and historical positioning, (ii) qualitative review of recent coverage and headlines, (iii) distribution of bylines and op-eds across viewpoints, and (iv) audience and reputation measures reported by third parties. Conflicting signals are resolved by weighting more recent and higher-confidence evidence.
Interpretation. The scale is directional—not absolute. Two outlets sharing the same label may still differ in tone, selection of topics, and emphasis. Coverage varies by beat and author; the indicator reflects aggregate editorial orientation rather than the stance of every individual item.

Uncertainty & updates. Assignments are estimates and may change as new information becomes available. Some sources may not display an indicator when evidence is insufficient to classify them with reasonable confidence.
Feedback & review. If you believe a classification is inaccurate, please contact support with concrete examples (URLs, dates, headlines) and a brief rationale. Submissions are reviewed, and when appropriate we update the classification and record the change in our internal log.
Note: The indicator supports transparency and user context. It should not be used to target, suppress, or deprioritize content solely on the basis of political orientation.
